"Change your clothes and go to sleep. It's already very late," Sahas said.
"I'm not going to sleep in your room," Arna replied.
"You must've forgotten, so let me remind you. We're married now, and you're my wife. That makes this room and this bed ours. And one more thing... I'm not letting you out of my sight. If you're going to sleep, you'll sleep here," Sahas said firmly.
"Oh God... Fine then, you sleep on the couch. I'm not sharing a bed with you," Arna said.
"You don't get to decide where I sleep. If you think I'm going to obey your every word, then you're mistaken. Now stop arguing, change your clothes, and go," he said rudely.
"I don't have any clothes," she said calmly, her tone much softer.
"I already had your clothes arranged in the wardrobe. Go and get changed," he replied.
"Hmm," Arna nodded.
She walked to the wardrobe and opened it. It was filled with clothes of every kind—sarees in every color, tops, jeans, elegant gowns, and countless adorable nightdresses. After looking through them, she picked a cute pink nightdress and changed into it.
The moment she stepped out of the bathroom, Sahas looked at her... and froze. His eyes remained fixed on her, unable to look away.
"Stop staring at me. You're making me uncomfortable," Arna said.
"I... I wasn't looking at you. Don't get the wrong idea," Sahas stammered before quickly walking into the bathroom.
A little while later, when Sahas came out, he saw Arna lying on the couch.
"Ugh... This girl is unbelievably stubborn," he muttered under his breath.
He walked toward her. Arna had her eyes closed, but she wasn't asleep. She could sense him standing very close to her.
Oh no... What if he touches me now? Is he going to force me onto the bed? What should I do? Should I open my eyes... or keep pretending to sleep? What if he actually touches me? Arna's mind raced with countless thoughts.
"Arna," Sahas called softly.
"I know you're not asleep. Get up," he said.
But Arna didn't move an inch. She continued pretending to sleep.
"Get up, baby girl. Don't test my patience..." he warned with a smirk. "Or I'll kiss you right now."
The moment those words left his mouth, Arna's eyes flew open, and she sat upright immediately.
"Go and sleep on the bed," Sahas said.
"I don't want to. Why can't you understand?" Arna replied.
"Why are you being so stubborn? Don't you understand anything the first time? I've been trying to talk to you calmly this whole time, but you're determined to argue. If you have such a problem with me, then fine. Stay on the couch. If your body starts hurting or anything happens, I don't fucking care. You've seriously gotten on my nerves. You don't understand kindness at all. You only deserve guys like Karan," he shouted in anger. Deep down, he was hurt by the way Arna had been treating him.
No one had ever spoken to Arna in that tone before—not even her father. She wasn't used to being yelled at like that. The moment Sahas raised his voice, tears welled up in her eyes. She tried her best to hold them back, but they rolled down her cheeks anyway.
"Oh, God..." Sahas sighed.
"Listen... I'm sorry. I shouldn't have shouted at you. I just lost my temper for a moment. I'm sorry, baby girl. I promise I won't yell at you again. Please don't cry like this. It doesn't feel right seeing you cry. You sleep on the bed... I'll sleep on the couch instead. Please," he said softly.
"No one has ever spoken to me like that before. Not even my dad. I hate you, Mr. Kashyap," Arna said.
With that, she walked to the bed and lay down, while Sahas quietly went to sleep on the couch.
The Next Morning
"Good morning, baby girl," Sahas said as he walked over to Arna with a tray of breakfast.
She was still asleep, but his voice woke her up.
"What's so good about the morning after seeing your face first thing?" Arna muttered.
"Come on, get up and have some breakfast," Sahas said with a smile.
"I don't feel like eating anything," she replied before walking into the bathroom.
Her cold behavior stung Sahas a little, but he ignored it. He knew the circumstances under which they had gotten married.
Almost an hour passed, yet Arna still hadn't come out.
"Arna, what are you doing in there? I'm getting late. I have to go to work," Sahas said, knocking on the bathroom door.
"Two minutes," Arna replied.
Suddenly, an idea popped into her head. She poured shampoo all over the bathroom floor, planning to make Sahas slip.
"Now this will be fun. I'll wipe that arrogance right off your face," she whispered to herself with a mischievous laugh.
But as she walked toward the door to unlock it, her own foot slipped on the shampoo.
"Ahhh!" Arna screamed in pain as she crashed onto the floor.
"What happened? Are you okay?" Sahas asked worriedly from outside the bathroom.
"Ah... my waist... I slipped and fell," Arna groaned.
"Can I come in?" Sahas asked.
"What? Are you planning to come in only after I die, you idiot?" Arna snapped.
Sahas immediately opened the bathroom door and saw Arna lying on the wet floor. However, he simply stood there without moving.
"What are you standing there for? Help me up!" Arna said.
"I'm sorry, but I can't lift you. I promised you yesterday that I wouldn't touch you without your permission," Sahas replied sincerely.
"You have my permission, okay? Touch me however you need to in order to help me. Just get me up. I think I've hurt my waist," Arna said through the pain.
