Sahas lifted Arna into his arms. It was the first time he had ever held her this close. His heartbeat raced as he couldn't stop looking at her. He was on the verge of losing control of his thoughts when Arna suddenly yelled,
"Why are you staring at me again? Put me on the bed quickly! My back hurts."
"You're misunderstanding. I'm not staring at you," Sahas said.
With that, he carried her to the room and gently laid her down on the bed.
"I'll call the doctor," he said.
"There's no need. If you have a pain relief spray or a muscle spray, just give it to me. I'll be fine," she replied.
"Are you sure? You don't want me to call a doctor?" he asked.
"Hmm," she answered.
Sahas brought her the spray and handed it to her.
"Here," he said.
Arna took the spray but simply kept staring at him.
"What happened now?" Sahas asked.
"How am I supposed to spray it on my back?" she said irritably, handing the spray back to him. "You do it."
"If you're not comfortable with me, I can call Grandma to help instead," he suggested.
"Do you have no mercy for her? She's already so old. How much more work are you going to make her do?" Arna snapped.
"Sorry... Then turn around and lie on your stomach. I'll spray it," Sahas said.
Arna turned over and lay face down. Seeing her like that, Sahas hesitated. He wasn't sure how he was supposed to apply the spray.
"Um... your dress... How am I supposed to spray it?" he asked nervously. He had never been in a relationship before, nor had he ever been this close to a girl.
"Just spray it over the dress," Arna replied impatiently.
"What?" Sahas asked, confused.
"Are you really this clueless, or are you pretending? Lift the top a little and spray it. That's all," she said.
Sahas carefully lifted the back of her top just enough to reach the sore area. His hands trembled slightly from nervousness. The unexpected closeness made his heartbeat race again, and he swallowed hard, trying to stay calm and focus on helping her. He was on the verge of losing control... but he forced himself to stay composed. Taking a deep breath, he slowly sprayed the pain relief on her injured back.
"It's done," he said softly.
Then, he gently laid Arna back down on the bed.
"Are you feeling better?" he asked with genuine concern.
"You can go to your office now. I want to rest," she replied coldly.
Her words stung. They pierced Sahas's heart, but he chose to ignore the pain. He didn't want to hurt Arna in any way, so he kept overlooking every harsh word and every rude behavior of hers.
"Alright," he replied simply.
With that, he walked into the bathroom to freshen up.
Sahas got ready to leave for the office.
Deep down, he didn't want to leave Arna in this condition. He had never admitted it to anyone, but he truly loved her. However, Arna didn't want him to stay, so he decided to go to work anyway.
After getting ready, he walked over to her.
"If you need anything, just tell the maid," he said. "And one more thing... you're not allowed to leave the house. If you need to go anywhere or want anything, tell the maidβor tell me."
"Why don't you just build a prison here and lock me inside it?" Arna replied coldly.
"I'm only saying this for your safety," Sahas said calmly.
She ignored him without saying another word.
Sahas stepped closer to her. Before she could react, he gently placed a kiss on her forehead.
"Bye, love," he said softly before walking out of the room.
Arna remained frozen in place, completely stunned. For a few seconds, she couldn't even process what had just happened.
