"Did he just kiss me?" Arna asked herself in disbelief.
"I'll deal with him later. Who does he think he is?" she muttered angrily.
In the Living Room
"Dadi Maa," Sahas called out gently.
"Yes, beta?" Dadi Maa replied.
"Please take good care of Arna. She slipped in the bathroom today, so make sure she gets her meals on time. For now, please send someone to stay with her," Sahas said.
"Of course, beta. Don't worry and go to the office. Arna is like my own daughter. I'll take good care of her," Dadi Maa assured him.
"Hmm," Sahas replied before leaving for the office.
A little while later, one of the maids cut some fresh fruit and took it to Arna's room.
Knock... Knock...
"Ma'am, may I come in?" the maid asked politely.
"Yes," Arna replied softly.
"I've brought some fruits for you, Ma'am," the maid said.
"Thank you. Keep them here," Arna said.
The maid placed the plate of fruits on the table but didn't leave.
"What happened? You can go now," Arna said.
"Sir asked me to take care of you. He told me to stay with you until he returns," the maid replied.
"Oh... alright," Arna said.
"So... has Sahas left for the office?" Arna asked.
"Yes, Ma'am. Sir has already left," the maid replied.
"Good... this is my chance to escape. But how? This maid is standing right here. I have to think of something..." Arna thought to herself.
Just then, a phone started ringing.
Arna's attention shifted to the maid. It was her phone, but she kept rejecting the call again and again.
A small smile appeared on Arna's face as an idea struck her.
"You should answer it. It might be something urgent," Arna said.
"No, Ma'am. It's nothing important," the maid replied.
"Go ahead. It's okay. Answer the call," Arna insisted.
As soon as the maid stepped out of the room to answer a phone call, Arna looked toward the balcony.
"I'm not going to stay locked up in this house..." she whispered to herself.
Ignoring the pain in her back, she slowly got out of bed. Every step hurt, but she forced herself forward. and quietly walked out of the room.
The house was silent.
Arna carefully made her way downstairs and headed straight for the main door.
Just as she reached for the handle...
"Where do you think you're going?" a deep voice echoed behind her.
Arna froze.
She slowly turned around to see Sahas standing at the entrance. His office bag was still in his hand.
"Didn't you leave for the office?" Arna asked, surprised.
"I forgot an important file," Sahas replied coldly. His eyes then fell on the way she was struggling to stand.
"Answer me. Where were you going?"
"That's none of your business. Move aside." Arna tried to walk past him.
Sahas grabbed her wrist before she could take another step.
"Leave my hand!" she snapped, trying to pull away.
"You can barely stand, yet you're trying to run away?" he said, his voice dangerously calm.
"I'd rather fall a hundred times than stay in this prison!" Arna shouted.
Those words made Sahas's expression harden instantly.
For the first time, the calm in his eyes disappeared.
"Prison?" he repeated slowly.
His jaw clenched.
"Fine."
He took out his phone and dialed a number.
"Double the security around the mansion. From now on, no one lets Mrs. Kashyap step outside without my permission."
Arna stared at him in disbelief.
"You can't control my life!" she yelled.
Sahas took one step closer, his eyes locked onto hers.
"Keep testing my patience, Arna... and you'll find out exactly how much control I have."
Without another word, he walked past her and left for the office, while Arna stood there, furious, clenching her fists as tears of frustration filled her eyes.
The entire day passed in silence.
Arna never stepped out of her room. She stayed curled up on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling. Every time the maid knocked on the door with food, she refused.
"I don't want anything. Just leave."
By evening, the tray was still untouched.
...
It was almost 9 p.m. when the sound of a car stopping outside echoed through the mansion.Sahas had finally returned from the office after an exhausting day. He loosened his tie while walking inside, expecting the house to be as peaceful as always.Just then, Dadi Maa stopped him.
"Sahas."
He immediately walked over to her. "Ji, Dadi Maa."
She sighed. "Arna hasn't eaten anything since morning."Sahas frowned.
"What?"
"I tried explaining to her. The maids tried too. But she didn't even touch the food. She has locked herself inside the room."
For a moment, Sahas remained silent. His jaw tightened. Without saying another word, he walked to the dining table, picked up a fresh dinner tray himself, and poured a glass of water. "I'll take it to her."
Dadi Maa looked at him with a faint smile. She could clearly see the concern in his eyes, even if he never admitted it. Sahas carried the tray upstairs and stopped outside Arna's room.
He knocked gently.
"Arna... open the door."
Silence.
He knocked again, a little louder this time.
"Open the door."
Still no response.
Sahas closed his eyes for a second before speaking in a calm but firm voice.
"I know you're awake. Open the door and eat something."
The room remained completely silent.
